Being a single father to a pair of 7 year old twin boys isn’t the slightest bit a walk in a park. Even more so as its little league soccer season all over again. This time yours truly is the main honcho for getting the team uniforms ready.
Being one of only 3 male parents among 13 women in our team’s committee, it was a tough fight to persuade most of them to come to an agreement not to change the team’s uniform color from red to a color in the pastel palette which I can’t pronounce. But as much as we tried, we were not met with success to change the team name to The Red Wizards from The Red Flamingos.
After sourcing for team uniforms, and believe it or not - team sponsors, I came to realize that our soccer team did not even have its own logo. I touched on this point with the other 2 dads and we came to a decision that it might be a a great idea if we were to have our very own soccer team symbol. So we agreed to create a logo sample each and display them to the committee.
The three of us met up the next weekend with our works of art and ended up having a laugh at ourselves, before we realized that non of us could design to save our lives. As it seems my Flamingo looked like a Woodpecker on steroids. The so called works of pure creative genius from the other two guys weren’t a whole lot better better. One might pass for a piece by Picasso and the other appeared like bored doodlings from a miserable victim of a 4 hour long company meeting. But we went ahead and gave the designs to the committee anyway.
Even though the committee barred the three of us from designing anything club related until such time when a certain place freezes over, they did agree to the idea that our little league team should certainly have its own logo. So I delightedly went home and conducted a search for logo design iceland, selected a few the better spoken of design companies and tabled them to the committee.
Now our little soccer team has, after all this time, got its very own team logo. We had badges made for the team uniforms and stickers printed for fun’s sake - thanks to a small but adequate sponsorship we got from the ice cream shop right beside the park. The logo design itself appears very cool with a an unabashedly red Flamingo standing on one leg and the other casually resting on a soccer ball with its wings crossed.
A little bird told me that next year I’ll be in charge of liquid sustenance aka drinks. I’m considering taking it up a notch and am already thinking about a presentation to Accelerade about a sponsorship deal.
