World’s Most Beautiful Drive

World’s Most Beautiful Drive

Then President Teddy Roosevelt described his 1910 visit to Grand View Drive inPeoria Heights as the "World’s Most Beautiful Drive". The vistas gazed upon by the former President still sit upon bluffs unchanged from when the Indians first settled in the area centuries ago. Drive along the two-and-one-half mile drive to see the expansive panoramic view of Woodford, Tazewell, and Marshall counties, where on a clear day, visitors can see more than thirty miles of the scenic Illinois River valley.

The call letters for the Peoria radio station WMBD-AM and television station WMBD-TV got their name from the name given to Grand View Drive, so the history of that name lives on even in Peoria area media.

The effect of providing power mobility on body weight change

OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether the provision of power mobility would have an effect on body weight in adults who were first-time qualifiers for power mobility. DESIGN: This was a retrospective observational study of consecutive subjects, who served as their own controls. The medical scooters, www.easymedonline.com records of 468 subjects who were approved for power mobility during a 17-mo period were reviewed. Three weight groups (12 mos before, at, and 12 mos after the power mobility evaluation) were evaluated with repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA). The weight changes on subjects in different age groups (45-54, 55-64, 65-74, and >74), in geriatric vs. nongeriatric groups, and in different body mass index (BMI) groups were analyzed. RESULTS: Eighty-nine subjects met the inclusion criteria. They were obese (49.4%), and most of them were geriatric (64%). Congestive heart failure (30.34%) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (22.47%) were the two main presenting diagnoses. The repeated-measures ANOVA showed no significant weight change in the three studied weight groups. Similar results were seen in the age and BMI subgroups. CONCLUSIONS: There was no statistically significant weight change in adults who were first-time qualifiers and who used power mobility for 1 yr.

Satisfaction with technological equipment in individuals with tetraplegia following spinal cord injury

OBJECTIVE: To measure the acquisition, use and satisfaction with high technology equipment by spinal cord injured tetraplegic subjects. DESIGN AND SETTING: A questionnaire was mailed to 102 tetraplegic subjects who were hospitalised in the rehabilitation center of Kerpape (Ploemeur, France) between 1998 and 2004, and 59 subjects responded. The questionnaire asked about the use of telephones, computers, wheelchairs and environmental controls at home. RESULTS: When a piece of equipment was acquired, it was very often used. Patient satisfaction with equipment was 79.3%. Home phones and mobile phones were often used with options such as hands-free devices (78 and 59% respectively). A total of 64.4% of subjects acquired a manual wheelchair and 61% a power wheelchair. The most commonly acquired options on the power wheelchairs were the powered recline (73,7%) and tilt (71,1%) systems. All options were used but all were more desired than acquired. A total of 27.1% of subjects desired a pushrim-activated www.easymedonline.com, but only 15.3% had acquired one; 695% of subjects had a computer. Communication was the first use for the computer (82.5%); 49.2% of subjects had acquired an environmental control system, but 20% desired one. The first reason for lack of acquisition was financial difficulties but also accessibility and information problems. The factor that influenced the acquisition and need for equipment was the degree of spinal cord injury. No other factor reduced patient satisfaction with equipment. CONCLUSION: Patients were satisfied with the equipment they acquired. But their needs, especially wheelchair options and environmental control systems, were not satisfied.

What to look for in a wireless microphone

Categories: New Age, Other, Religion | June 1st, 2009 | by rachaelb | no comments

1. Start with the right tool for the job!
Wireless microphone systems have two key parts: a transmitter (on the microphone) and a receiver. Many advanced receivers use two sets of antennae and circuits to create “diversity,” by selecting or combining the signals to greatly reduce interference and dropouts.
Many inexpensive systems use only one antenna or only one set of cirtcuits-which often causes more dropouts (or loss of sound) to occur.

Lapel, Handheld, or Headset?
Handheld wireless mics give you freedom from cables and are great for singing because they have a larger diaphragm and are easily moved for more dynamic vocal versatility. Handheld mics should be held 2-3 inches from the mouth.

Headset mics are also great for freedom of movement. They help you keep a consistent sound level because the mic stays the same distance from your mouth even when you turn your head or bow.

Lapel mics are a preacher’s dream! They give virtually total freedom of movement. Preaching will take on a more natural feel as you engage your audience more by having both hands free. Lapel mics are best worn close. 1-2 inches from the top of a lapel tie.

Tip: Do you even need a mic for your instrument?
Guitar, bass and other instrument players have discovered the liberation of replacing threir twisted, worn-out patch cable with an adapter that connects the bodypack transmitter right to their instrument!

2. Get on the right “wavelength”
Radio frequencies carry your mic signal from transmitter to receiver, so it’s important to be sure your wireless mic will work in your environment. There are two large groups of frequency bands: VHF (Very High Frequency) and UHF (Ultra High Frequency) which together cover a wide range of available frequencies.

Two wireless bands:
VHF (Very High Frequency) – 169MHz to 215MHz are the most commonly used and least expensive wireless systems. They offer great quality sound because they operate on a wider bandwidth (allowing more signal to be carried).

UHF (Ultra High Frequency) – These mics use frequencies above 900MHz. They have a very narrrow bandwidth. The result: minimal interference and good operating range! These systems are more affordable than ever, but are usually more expensive than VHF systems of the same quality.

VHF systems are often more affordable, though rarely they may encounter interference from local TV stations on the VHF band, drive-through restaurants and other commercial radio devices and TV stations (in the UHF band). For this reason, you may wish to consider a “frequency agile” wireless system

More wireless systems are “frequency agile” meaning you can select a new channel if there is ever a time when one channel is experiencing interference, or when a nearby wireless system is using it. Frequency agile wireless systems are increasingly popular and common, even though “fixed frequency” single-channel wireless are less expensive and still a good choice for many applications.
People used to think there was less danger of interference on UHF but that was only because hardly anyone was using the UHF frequencies at that time.

Tip: You can generally combine VHF and UHF systems with no problem!

3. Location, location, location!

Because of the RF (Radio Frequency) technology, choosing the right wireless mic system means knowing where and how it will be used.

For one permanent location, simply get one with a frequency range that does not conflict with your local TV channels and other RF sources. Those channels vary from city to city, so traveling ministries will need to consider a “frequency-agile” system.

Diversity
Non-diversity – These receivers use one single-pole antenna. They normally can transmit indoors from 75 feet up to 250 feet on the better models.

Posi-Phase Diversity (or dipole) – These receivers use a single antenna with twin “poles” (looks like two antennae) connected to the same receiver. Range & signal quality are better than Non-Diversity but less than True Diversity except on professional models.

True Diversity – These wireless receivers have two separately tuned antennae. One locks on to the signal from the transmitter (mic); the other acts as an open channel to filter interference away from the output. This extends the range. These are the best and most reliable wireless systems.

Squelch – Allows you to adjust the sensitivity and range of your receiver.

Drive By Inspections Jobs: Life On The Job

Categories: Blogroll, New Age, Other | June 1st, 2009 | by corestar | no comments

A job which requires traveling (such as drive by inspections jobs) is truly a dream come true for many, but there are times that you may not just be the right person for the position. Even if business is the goal of most of these trips, one still gets some time to sight-see and discover a little bit the atmosphere of a foreign land. Sales positions are for the most part the most constant jobs that require travel making because they are by nature territory-based, requiring visits of promising clients and office inspections in other parts of the country or abroad as well. A practice followed by many companies in these days is to give jobs to local sales people from a certain area and then give them the task of including all of their neighborhood’s cities or states.

Those with jobs that need travel making to not very far away locations are usually provided with a company car, and in addition to this, the same payment policy is applied to all the budgets for the business trips as well as to the eventual accommodation for rents if the trip would involve an overnight stay. Other occupations that calls for travel availability include such positions in regional management: thus, retail chain and restaurant managers need to travel from state to state and take care of local business issues. They have a pyramidal reporting scheme, which means that the store/restaurant manager reports to the regional manager, who will then file a report his/her superior.

Some jobs that require travel availability would go beyond the borders of the state: these assignments typically extend to the national or even the international scale. Such is the case with reporters, public speakers, software installers, personnel recruiters, trainers and other professional categories who need to target contrasting categories of customers that aren’t described by regional areas. Before you start applying for jobs that require travel, first think well and evaluate your situation as well: are you quite capable enough of handling this kind of position?

For some people, life on the road didn’t meet their expectations, as they didn’t have all of the clues to understanding the nature of the job they were hired for. Whereas in some other cases, traveling for the purpose of business (like those of the drive by inspections jobs) could not be seen as a very interesting experience even if the business deal itself is less exciting and nifty as expected. All sorts of professional assessment guides, training courses (such as a field inspection training) and informative guides can really help one in figuring out if traveling and business is the thing for them. Good luck!

Mens Skin Care Products: Hair Removal Methods For Men

Categories: Blogroll, New Age, Other | June 1st, 2009 | by corestar | no comments

There are many kinds of removal methods used by men and women. The most used mens skin care products are tweezers, shaving creams, and many more. The choice relies completely on the person as their hair and skin types differ. There are times that a product that will work on one person might not work out on another. So, for men’s skin care, having good knowledge about the various shaving and hair removal choices will help you discern what’s best for your skin and hair.

Shaving is one of the commonly used hair removal technique for men. It’s been solved in numbers all throughout the world because of its safety and cost benefits. The method of shaving cuts the hair at the skin’s surface. The wide array of razors available through the market provides a person a chance to utilize different kinds of styles that offer different levels of comfort and closeness. Razors are cheaper compared to other products used for hair removal for men. Aside from the disposable ones, electric razors can be utilized for a smooth and clean shave.

The only disadvantage of shaving are the skin irritations and will get a quick re-growth of hair. Since the method of shaving won’t be able to remove the hair from the root the tendency for the hair to grow back is much higher than other methods. Although shaving is a popular hair removal technique for men, it’s not good for those who have sensitive skin.

Another famous technique of removing hair for men is by utilizing depilatory creams. It’s true that these creams are used by many women, it’s not quite surprising that there are also men who use it to remove their unwanted body hair. Once the cream is applied and kept on the skin for around 10 minutes, it will dissolve the hair located at the root. This feature make them effective skin care products (just like products such as those stretch mark removal cream, skin lightening creams, etc.). The re-growth of hair will take a longer time and is quite better than shaving. Skin irritation can also occur for sensitive skins.

It’s actually the women who utilized wax for removing those unwanted body hair. But these days these methods has become quite popular among men. The method of waxing could be painful but it’s truly worth it as it removes the hair from the root effectively.

You may see that some men have unwanted hairs in their ears and nose. As a part of men’s skin care, personal shavers are used and are quite effective in removing hair located in the hardest areas of the body. This is the best technique among men in shaving those areas as it causes the least amount of skin irritation.

Can an MLM Funded Proposal Help my Business?

Categories: New Age, Religion | June 1st, 2009 | by Admin | no comments

Can an MLM Funded Proposal Help my Business?

The last years the new trend in network marketing, especially for those working online, is what

is called a funded proposal. The process of generating leads that you can try to convert them

to distributors in your MLM opportunity by selling them usually an infoproduct in the

front-end. That method can be very useful for those that don’t have the financial resources to

advertise directly themselves and their multi-level marketing business for a long period of

time.
But let’s see in more detail how exactly it works.
As we said, everything starts with the front-end product that is usually an info-product like

an ebook, sometimes it can also be a tangible product, but such cases are rare as it’s not

cost-efficient. What you are doing is you are trying to sell this product for a designated

price. When someone buys it he becomes a lead and you follow up with him through an

autoresponder with a preloaded series of emails trying to convince him to become a member to

your network marketing opportunity. The best business for 2009

that you are trying to sell to him is called the back-end product.
The exciting part of this method is the selling of the front-end product, in essence you get

paid to generate your own leads. Of course, you have to subtract the advertising costs in order

to find your real profit, if any. If you sell for example a training course for $35 and the

customer acquisition cost is $25 you make a profit of $10 for every lead you generate.
That concept is very powerful if you consider that most people that advertise directly their

MLM company, they are losing money in the first months, or even years until their downline

grows big enough so their commissions can match up their advertising expenses. With a funded

proposal you solve the cash-flow problems of your home based business right from the very

beginning getting in profit literally from your first sale.
Another advantage is the quality of the leads you generate. First, you know where they come

from since you generate them on your very own. Second, they already have spent money for buying

your course so they are serious prospects and not freebie seekers. And third, they qualified

themselves that they are genuinely interested in network marketing by purchasing your relevant

product.
As good as it sounds the funded proposal by now, it gets even better. There are ready made

solutions with an information product that you can sell, an autoresponder loaded with

pre-written emails in order to convert your customers to distributors in your multilevel

marketing opportunity, as well as training on how to market and build your

href=www.starscapes.com>best business from home.
That way you won’t have to set up the whole system by yourself which requires a lot of

knowledge and skills in order to function properly and be efficient in terms of converting

traffic to customers and leads to distributors. Someone else has already done the hard work for

you.
From what we have seen above an MLM funded proposal is a powerful tool for every network

marketer, especially if he doesn’t have the necessary cash to sustain direct advertising of his

best business for 2009 for a long period of time that can usually last for many months before

he gets to profits. Whether you set up your own system, or join a ready one, using that method

is something that you should consider.
